His early book &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nybooks.com\/articles\/1966\/01\/20\/barefoot-into-reality\/\">Poets of Reality<\/a>&#8221; was a revelation to me my first year in grad school at Stanford. In my first scholarly publication, an essay on William Carlos Williams, I awkwardly attempted to imitate his methods.
